Code of Conduct ESNNA and Machupicchu Latin America

Esnna Code

In accordance with Law No. 28251, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) has established the policy against the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (ESNNA). Therefore, the ESNNA code and Machupicchu Latin America have an agreement for joint actions to prevent and eradicate this issue. Hence, we declare that:

We reject the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (ESNNA) in Peru and worldwide, particularly in its form associated with travel and tourism, as it violates fundamental human rights and contradicts the intrinsic goals of tourism in our country.
We denounce and condemn those who exploit tourism activities and the facilities and services provided to promote, facilitate, or tolerate the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. In light of this,
Machupicchu Latin America endorses this Code of Conduct against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents within the tourism sector.

This Code is a formal declaration of voluntary adherence, aiming to establish conduct guidelines for all members of Machupicchu Latin America to protect children and adolescents from any form of sexual exploitation or human trafficking associated with travel and tourism.

Furthermore, as members of this company, and to take the necessary measures to protect children and adolescents against sexual exploitation, we commit to:

  1. Maintaining an ethical policy of rejecting the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in the context of travel and tourism.
  2. Informing and training staff about the company’s policy regarding the prevention of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism and travel.
  3. Displaying visible symbols to alert clients and providers about the company’s stance against the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism and travel.
  4. Including a clause in contracts with tourism service providers declaring a shared rejection of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. The following paragraph will be used:
“Tourism promotes a childhood and adolescence free from sexual exploitation; therefore, we do not accept any act that supports the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.”
